You ever notice these things always happen at night, on a weekend? It never happens, say, when you're at work in the beginning of the day, thus opening up an opportunity to go home early.
Anyway, we're in the dark, playing a bizarre card game whose name and rules I'm still not entirely sure of. The transistor radio is on and this Chinese guy calls KSSK and asks Perry and Price whether he can send a message out to his grandmother who is lost. Apparently she went shopping and never came home. Perry and Price give him the go ahead and he rattles off his message in Chinese.
Suddenly my FOB roommate nearly spits up his vodka tonic. (Yes, we were drunk at this point. Really, what else is there to do in a power outage on a Friday night?) Apparently it was a prank call. According to my roommate who is fluent in that particular dialect, this is what the "distraught" man said over the airwaves: "Grandma, please come home, you f***ing b***h. You're entire family is dead."
Awesome.
And with that, Happy New Year.

Ben. Butt.
After suprisingly finding it impossible to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Christmas Day, I finally saw it and am no longer very curious.
At least it moved quickly. I barely noticed it was 3 hours, and any movie that doesn't feel like 180 minutes deserves some sort of props. Hell, The Spirit felt longer.
(Not that I can really say anything about The Spirit. I have this rule that I can't criticize any movie I did not see in its entirety and I fell asleep for about one hour of it. I woke up and was kinda like, "WTF?! Are things really this bad?!" Still, it did give me a great idea for 2009's Halloween costume. I'm gonna wear a tie "and it better be red.")
Back to Butt. I'm not sure I get "the point." I mean, yes, Ben. Butt. led a full and rich life which was nicely documented with cool CGI, but they didn't seem to make much use of the concept. He simply grew up backwards and that was that. He didn't really encounter all that many problems that was unique to his "affliction."
I think I like David Fincher better when he's indulging his serial killer fetish.
